Once your male chastity cage arrives, you’ll probably be excited and want to wear it immediately. But sometimes, actually getting your cock into its new home might turn out to be a little more difficult than you’d imagined. Luckily we’ve got a few simple tips to help make it as easy as possible.
If you’re brand new to chastity or don’t yet have a cage, make sure to read our article on first time male chastity experience for beginners  first as it will probably answer many of the questions you have.

Getting Ready

Before you jump into the action, there’s a few things you should check to make sure you’re going to be safe and sensible with your cage.
First, check your cage thoroughly. You’re looking for any visible damage, rough areas, sharp parts, and anything else that might otherwise damage Mistress’s prize. Many small issues can be fixed with some fine sandpaper to smooth things over, but if you find any larger cracks or damage you shouldn’t use that cage.
Next, make sure you have a spare key! This should be kept somewhere safe, so that if there’s any emergencies you’ll be able to get out of your cage. It’s up to you where you put it, but there are a few ideas in our post on solo self online chastity play. One of our favorite options is the Chastity Key Pod, which lets anyone control when you get access to your key.
Finally, make sure that you’re clear on what kind of play you’re getting into. If you’re only going to be wearing the cage for a short while, then you shouldn’t need any extra prep, but if this is going to be a long term arrangement then there needs to be clear rules. Often slaves and Mistresses will draw up a contract, which clearly lays out the responsibilities of each party, how long you’ll be caged, and any punishments for breaking the rules.
Make sure your play is safe, sane and consensual. Don’t do anything you aren’t comfortable with, and don’t stay locked up longer than you want to.

Pre-Wear Grooming

If you’ve spent any time on chastity forums, you might have seen images of men locked in their chastity cage with a complete lack of pubic hair. Don’t worry, this isn’t a requirement, and for less experienced slaves we’d actually recommend against it. Once your shaved pubes start growing back in, you’ll likely experience chafing, itching, and maybe even a rash.
If you must remove your pubes, waxing is the way to go. Most of the time though, a simple trim will be enough to keep hair from getting caught up in your device. You’ll need to keep on top of it, so an extra trim whenever you remove the chastity device for cleaning is a good idea.

Do You Need Lube?

Another common question is whether or not you need to use lube to put on a cock cage. This is a bit of a personal preference, and will depend on a number of factors.
Some men have absolutely no difficulty sliding straight into a male chastity device completely dry. If you’re one of them, then you’re one of the lucky few. Most men will find that getting the cock ring over both testicles and their penis challenging, so lube will definitely help.
Choose a water based lube, and apply it to your testicles and the length of your penis. You can also put some on the inside of the cock ring to help it glide into place. Feel free to use plenty, but try to avoid basting yourself in lube. You don’t want the ring to just slide straight back off.
Obviously avoid any lubes that offer extra sensations like heat. You need to remain flaccid while putting on your male chastity device and these will have the opposite effect.

Putting on the Ring

This will be the hardest part of putting on your cock cage. The ring needs to go over both testicles AND your penis.
The easiest method is to put one testicle through at a time. Once both testicles are inside, gently fold your penis downwards and push it through the ring. This won’t work if you start to get erect, so you might need to take a time out if you start to struggle.
Most importantly, take your time! You’re working with delicate body parts, so you don’t want to rush things and hurt yourself.
Those of you with a hinged cock ring will find this part much easier. Simply position the ring underneath your scrotum and close it over the top of your penis. Take care to avoid any skin getting pinched in the hinge.

Putting on the Cage Tube

Putting on the tube is much simpler, just slide your penis into it!
Depending on the design of your cage, there are a few parts you’ll need to line up correctly. Most chastity cages will have between one and three slots or pins on the ring, and the same amount of holes or protrusions on the cage. Lining these up is important, as this is what will allow you to lock the cage.

Struggling? Try the Stocking Method

Were here to help.
The stocking method is something you might see mentioned on chastity forums or hear about from other slaves. If you’re struggling to get your penis into the cage tube, particularly if you’re using a smaller model.
To help you get the cock cage on, cut a silky stocking so that you only have one of the feet left. Fold it so that the material is doubled up on itself by pulling the toe towards the open end of the material.
Push the folded edge of the stocking through the tip of your cage, but leave both the toe and the hem outside the cage.
Place your penis into the opening of the stocking inside your cage, then gently pull on the toe of the stocking to slide the cage onto your penis. Once it’s on, lock it up and then pull the hem of the material to remove the stocking.
You can also use a similar method with cling film, or even a condom so feel free to experiment. Just make sure that the thing you use is smooth so you don’t damage your penis.

Locking It Up

The last part of putting on your cage is locking it up with a chastity padlock. Unlock your padlock, slide it through the hole on the cage, and then lock it back up. Easy!
If your cage has an chastity key lock, an internal locking system, you might find things a little more difficult. You need to insert the key into the lock, then line up all the parts of the cage that the lock slides into. Once you’re lined up, slide in the lock and then turn the key. This will secure the lock in place.
It can be helpful to practice with an internal lock before you put the cage on to make sure you know how to line everything up correctly and which way around the different parts needs to go.

Hygiene Is Important! Keeping Your Cage Clean

Staying clean and safe.
Just because the cock cage is on, it doesn’t mean you’re completely done. An important part of wearing a chastity device correctly is keeping it clean and hygienic.
While there’s no hard and fast rules on how often this should be done, we usually recommend cleaning every couple of days. That means removing the cage, wiping down every part of it with soapy water (including in the gaps!) and also giving your penis a good wash.
Keeping on top of this will help reduce the smell coming from your device, keep your cock healthy, and improve the chastity experience overall.

When Will It Come Off? Short and Long-Term Chastity

Now the chastity cage is on, the next question is when will it come off. This is a decision you should ideally make before you put on the cage so it’s clear how long the lock-up period will be right from the start.
When we strip this down to basics, you have two options: short-term chastity and long-term permanent male chastity.
Usually short-term chastity will be keeping the cage on for a short period on a single day. This might be just for playtime in the bedroom, for a few hours during the day, or your Mistress might make you wear it whenever you’re away from her. This kind of chastity will see you putting on and removing your cage much more often, but will usually require less cleaning sessions as you aren’t wearing it for a long time.
24-7 Chastity
Long-term chastity, or even permanent chastity, is a much more serious notion, and will involve keeping the cock cage on for days, weeks, months or even years. With this kind of pledge, cleaning is more important than ever.
You should also make sure that your agreement with Mistress is regularly reviewed to make sure you’re still happy wearing the cage all the time and comfortable with your current agreement.

Go Forth and Enjoy Chastity!

Let the bonding experience begin.
Once your cock cage is on, you’re ready to start your journey. Maybe it’s the first time, or maybe you’re just trying out a new cage. Either way, there’s plenty of great ways to make chastity exciting and fun. Head over to our blogs section for some ideas!
