Gym Buddies. the Best Lightweight Chastity Cages for Exercise

Mistress watching slave work out
How to work out while wearing a chastity device stumps a lot of caged guys, especially if they’re new to the lifestyle. It’s regularly discussed on Reddit and also in our own LTC social posts. So let’s tackle the topic once and for all, and address how to stay active and play the sports you love without compromising your chastity pledge. Starting with the most popular question.

Is It Physically Safe to Wear a Cage While Working Out?

Chastity is a safe practice as long as you:
  • Wear a cage that fits correctly.
  • Practice good chastity hygiene.
  • Pay attention to your body and take action if there are any signs of discomfort.
  • Remove the cage immediately if there are signs of restricted blood flow (discoloration, numbness).
Wearing a cage that you know is a comfortable fit and that you’re used to, is the first step to ensuring your junk stays safe while working out. Then consider what sort of exercise you’re going to do.
You’re generally going to be fine if you’re:
  • Lifting weights.
  • Going for a run or hike.
  • Doing dynamic exercises.
  • Cycling.
Keep checking in with yourself during your workout. Does it feel like the cage is tugging or moving? Do specific exercises feel difficult because of the cage? If this is the case, then your cage may be too big, or you need extra support to hold it in place. (More on this later.) Minimizing the amount of cage movement makes it less likely you’ll slide out of your cage, experience chafing, or (in a worst-case scenario) get something trapped.
Onto contact sports. It’s not safe to wear a cage if you play soccer, basketball, or American Football, or you practice martial arts. The chance of falling on your cage or being hit is too great. If this happens your cage’s restriction and rigidity will damage rather than protect your junk. Ultimately, a cage is not a protective cup box. It’s not designed to function as a groin guard.
Always remove your cage before engaging in these sports. (Yes, even during a kickabout at the park with friends.) If you hold your own keys, this should be easy. Unlock at the start of your practice or game, then re-lock at the end. Got a Keyholder? Then you need to negotiate with them about managing this.

Taking your cage off and breaking a streak for the sake of a game may feel trivial. If this is the case then try to reframe how you think about it. Playing sports has mental health benefits. It keeps the mind sharp, and the body fit. It offers social interaction. Chastity cages are there to remove the temptation of nutting one out. And the chances of doing that during a game or when exercising is… Well, it’s just not possible.

What About Swimming?

Swimming is a low-impact sport. From a safety perspective, it’s fine to wear a cage. But you can probably guess why most guys remove it before swimming laps. Trunks leave very little to the imagination and, if you’re a serious swimmer, a pair of baggy board shorts is a hindrance rather than a help.

Cage Etiquette at the Gym

Staying safe is one thing. Whether you should stay caged at the gym is quite another. And this often stirs up a lot of debate.
It’s undeniable that most of us wear a cage for pleasure and sexual reasons. When all’s said and done, chastity cages are a sex toy. So in one corner is the argument that you shouldn’t force your kink on others. Gyms aren’t sexual forums. You shouldn’t put people at risk of seeing your device. Hence it’s best to keep the cage out of them.
In the other corner is the argument that locking up is a lifestyle choice. It can be a big part of who you are so a cage is more than ‘just a sex toy.’ Furthermore, it’s unlikely anyone will be deliberately trying to get a good look. Because that's inappropriate locker room behavior, in the same way that no one (caged or uncaged) should be flaunting themselves.
The best advice: use your discretion and common sense. Think about the sort of gym you go to, who else uses the gym, and the facilities available.

Cage Challenges and How to Overcome Them

There are 3 clear chastity-at-the-gym challenges that catch most people out. Luckily, each one has an easy fix and only requires a little pre-gym prep.
Challenge 1: Finding Clothes That Hide the Cage
During your first few trips to the gym you’re likely to be hyper-aware of your cage. And so you may think its outline is clearly visible through your gym shorts. But it’s unlikely anyone can see it unless you’re wearing Lycra. Still, to make sure your bulge isn’t super-obvious when bench pressing, you could try this.
The fix: Wear loose-fitting gym shorts, such as basketball shorts, or ones that have more give around the crotch. If this doesn’t appeal to you, try wearing an extra layer to conceal the shape of the cage. You might also choose dark-colored clothing, which is renowned for hiding bumps and bulges. It also draws the eye away from the body towards the hands, legs, neck, and face.
Challenge 2: Cage Movement and Chafing
The whole point of working out is to get moving and work up a sweat. While this is great for your body and mind, it’s a potential irritant for your cage. Increased movement may lead to you slipping out and increased moisture around your groin can cause unwanted friction and chafing.
The fix: Wear supportive briefs, a jockstrap, or a waist cord to hold the cage tight against your body. Or swap to a chastity belt. You’ll also want to make sure your cage fits properly in the first place. Wearing a cage that’s even a couple of millimeters too big will make things awkward.
To help with chafing, apply lubricant, Vaseline, or an anti-chafing cream.
Challenge 3: Showering and Changing
Navigating the changing room and showers seems to be the most contentious area for caged guys. What should they do if someone sees it? How can they keep it hidden? Should they stay sweaty? As with general gym etiquette, this depends on your circumstances and the sort of gym you use. But here are a couple of workarounds.
The fix: You may choose to head to the gym when you know it won’t be busy, so there’s less chance of running into anyone in the showers or locker room.
Does your gym have change stalls? If so, use them. Or if not, take a change of shirt and shorts for the drive or walk home and shower there.
When you absolutely have to shower at the gym, pack a pair of swim trunks. Sure, they’re tight, but wearing them is less conspicuous than being full cage-out. You could also consider a clear cage. For the short time you’re showering and changing, it’ll make it less likely anyone will spot it, even if they glance over.

Exercise and Cage Hygiene

A poll on Reddit revealed that most guys completely remove their cage for cleaning 2-4 times a week. If you like getting your sweat on every day, this won’t be enough. You should wash properly after every workout and, when possible, clean your cage.

Good Hygiene Tips When You’re Inside the Cage

  • Use a mild soap or shower gel and avoid thicker, creamier body washes, which are harder to rinse away.
  • Avoid chafing by making sure you and your cage are properly dry. A hairdryer on a cool setting can help with this, otherwise you may have to air dry.
  • A soft-bristled toothbrush or shaving brush will help you clean in and around the cage.

Cleaning Your Cage After a Workout

Ideally, you’ll unlock to clean your cage properly. How you do that will depend on what your cage is made of.
Plastic and silicone cages should be:
  • Cleaned with soap and warm water.
  • Wiped over with a soft cloth or brush.
  • Be left to air dry to avoid lint or fluff sticking to the cage.
Metal cages should be:
  • Cleaned with soap and warm water.
  • Wiped down with a soft cloth or brush.
  • Dried with a towel or cloth.

The Best Chastity Cages to Wear When Exercising

Even though I’ve seen guys talk about working out in a wide variety of devices, it seems that some are better suited to an active lifestyle than others. Cages that are up to the fitness challenge generally have these qualities.
  • They tend to be made from silicone or plastic so they’re lightweight and help minimize the risk of tugging as the body moves.
  • They have a built-in, cylindrical lock instead of a padlock.
  • They have good ventilation to avoid sweat build-up and assist with drying.
  • They’re discrete, so they tend to be clear in color.
With all that in mind, here are 3 of the best lightweight cock cages in our collection that make for a great gym buddy.
